Blessing and Curse, Verse and Reverse

 

After a lovely weekend at the Mothership to get my hair done and visit the fam, it's nice to be home again. I managed to get my WIP out of progress and into Done-ville, which is nice. Now, it's on to some short projects before tackling the next story that is rattling around in my head.

When I got back today, I got some good news. My latest novella, Dog Days of Summer, made the August Amber Allure Bestseller List at #6. I'm very excited about that, as I love the book and the series and can't wait to get started on the next one.

But, the weekend wasn't all good news. My beloved Geelong Cats lost their elimination final game and will not be making another run to the Grand Final this year. Total bummer, but still, it was a great season. To celebrate their awesomeness, I've decided on some Cats Man Candy this week. Ah, the good times.....

The Last of Those Bad Thoughts Are Finally Out

 

A few nights ago, I went for a visit to the Mothership and had a strange dream. I was trying to clean out a house that was full of crap. Every time I'd make some headway and clear some space, more junk would appear as if from no where. For the first time in a long time, I remember everything about my dream.

I got to thinking on it and I realize that while my house isn't full of clutter, my mind appears to be. Sometimes, I find myself exhausted, not by physical exertion, but from thinking. Or more specifically, over thinking. My mind can be a very crowded place. Pieces of stories, bits of worry, smidgens of sweet-fuck-all floating around unchecked haven't left a lot of room for peace and quiet. I lay down at night and find myself unable to fall asleep for an hour due to swirling, circular thoughts.

All this detritus also doesn't make for a very focused and functional life. But, I'm working on it. I'm going to keep on trying to clean out my head to try and find a bit of space, a bit of breathing room.

I've also been a bit remiss in my Man Candy duties. And, for that I'm truly sorry.

We Have Good News for Anyone Who Loves Bad News

Finally, I appear to be all caught up. For the moment anyway. I figured I'd take this opportunity to mention some good news I got yesterday.

My novel, Losing and Gaining, made the Amber Allure Top Ten Bestsellers list for July. That is the second month in a row, down a slight bit from #4 to #9. But, still, really awesome. It's the first time that's happened for one of my books and I'm really excited about that!

In honor of that fact, I've picked some extra special, extra sexy Man Candy this week. He looks happy for me, doesn't he?

There is so much going on at the moment, I almost don't know where to start. Maybe I'll try the beginning. It's seems like as good a place as any.

I Need Some Time in the Sunshine, Gotta Slow it Right Down

Well, I'm back. It's good to see not much has happened since I've been gone from the interwebs. Not that I expected much.

There were a few good things that happened during my hiatus. I found out that Losing and Gaining is #4 on the Amber Allure Bestseller List for June!! Also, I saw the mock-up of the paperback cover. I can't wait until it is ready to go!!

Also, I got some good news about upcoming projects that I will share in due time. Until then, you'll just have to be patient.

It was nice to take a bit of time off from the electronic world. It wasn't easy, but I think it was worth it. I did miss my Man Candy, though. That's why I picked an extra special one for today. Yummy!

I Don't Know Anymore, What Am I Waiting For?

If I could sum up the way I'm feeling right now, I'd have to say over it. I'm over it. What is 'it' you might be asking? Everything. I'm over it all. I feel this incredible need to detox the unnecessary from my life. To take a break from caring about everything and give my psyche a break. A chance to take a breath and not have to think about something mundane and pointless every minute of every day. Some time off from worrying about things I can't control, waiting for emails that never seem to come and laying down at night riddled with anxiety about something so trite, it isn't even worth my time.

So, in that vein, I'm taking the week off. Not from work or from life, but from the Internet. I'm giving the great time sucking devices the heave ho for a bit. Facebook, Twitter, email, Yahoo, Goodreads, etc. will all be well and fine without me for a while. If you need to get in touch, feel free, I'll get back to you as soon as I'm done sticking my head in the sand for a while. Those who truly need to get in touch know how. Everyone else, with all due respect, I'll catch you on the flip.

I Set My Hand To Writing You, It Drifted Off the Page

Something wonderful happened this weekend. I got a wonderful piece of fan mail about my new novel, Losing and Gaining. It was nice to hear from someone who really liked the book and actually took the time to email me and let me know. That kind of stuff always makes my day and I was happy to know that my book spoke to that person.

In other news, it seems that Middle Men, a wonderful collection edited by Shane Allison is available a few days early. It contains my story, Dogging It. It was also recently reviewed by Erotica Revealed and they had nice things to say about my story.

I'm starting a brand new project and I was in need of a bit of inspiration. I think I found it with the Man Candy this week. What do you think?
