I See You Walking Real Slow And You're Smiling At Everyone

Somehow, it totally escaped me that it was Monday yesterday. Funny how that happens. Things just got away from me, and I forgot my usually Monday posting ritual. So, it's now Tuesday, and I think I have things back on track. The holiday weekend was a blast and it was another late night watching the Cats win. But, the work must continue if I'm going to keep up with my new, self-appointed deadlines.

On the good news front, which I've also been lazy in sharing, there are some good things on the horizon. I found on the other day that I will be a part of Rachel Kramer Bussel's upcoming collection Orgasmic: Erotica for Women. It comes out in August and I'm sure my story, Rise and Shine, is going to be in amazing company. Also, my story, The Eighth, will be appearing in the collection Men at Noon, Monsters at Midnight, from Starbooks Press. It is my first foray into the "fantasy" genre and I think it went pretty well. It hits shelves June 8th. Both are available for pre-order right now. Just look to that pretty slide show on the right side of my page and follow the links.

There are a few more things coming up, so I'll keep you posted. So, a rare Tuesday Man Candy for you. I'll try and be more prompt next week. In honor of baseball season, it's a very hot and very wet Adam Wainwright of the St. Louis Cardinals. Let's play two!!

Your Boots Will Have a Meeting, And Your Boots Will Take Control

19 years ago, I approached my mother and told her I wanted a pair of Doc Marten boots. At first she seemed receptive, until I told her how much they cost. She then informed me that, if I wanted them, I'd have to work and save the money for them myself. There was no way she was paying that much for boots for a 14 year old. I stuck my chin out and said fine, I would work for the money.

I worked for the family business, so technically, my family would be giving me the money for the boots I wanted, it was just going to cost me hours and hours of my life handing out smelly bowling shoes and taking sass from customers. But, I did it, and I made the pilgrimage to South Street in Philadelphia and bought myself a beautiful pair of black, suede, 8 eyelet Doc Martens. As many pairs of Doc Martens as I have today (7-ish?) I also still have those same black boots. They don't look like suede anymore, the toes are nearly worn through, and while I wear a size 9.5 now, they are 8.5, but they are so stretched out they still fit.

Despite it all, they are still awesome. Sure, they're not water-tight anymore, I learned that the hard way during this year's blizzards. I could never think of parting with them, no matter how tattered they appear.

Why am I going on and on about these ratty boots? Because Doc Martens turn 50 today, and I felt like celebrating. Ideally, I'd love to run out and buy a new pair, but that is just not in the cards right now. So, instead, I'll bust out my old pair and use them to stroll around town. Happy Birthday, Doc. I don't know what I'd do without you. And, here is a musical tribute, courtesy of the Young Ones.

Just Tell Me How I Was In The Morning

I remember with fondness a time when I could stay up all night with no problem. A few cups of coffee and maybe a nap the next day would be all it took to set me straight. Sure, there would be the giggles and the delirious conversations, but all in all, I could do it. I found out the hard way that those days are long over.

This weekend, in an attempt to catch game 1 of the Geelong Cats season live, the man and I were planning on just staying up all night and watch. The game started at 4:40am. We thought we had done so well. We went to the diner at 1:30am to get some food and then stopped by the store for some Vault. It is truly a magical drink. While we waited for the action to start, we busied ourselves with movies and the internet. Once the game started, adrenalin provided the boost we needed to get started. But, as halftime approached, and 6am was upon us, I was fading. I hung on as long as I could and we were vindicated with a win by the Cats.

The next day found us completely punch drunk and stupid, and in bed super early. The weekend was effectively useless as we recovered, laying around like hibernating animals. It is official, we are too old for this shit. Oh well . . . at least we can be thankful that next week's game is at midnight.

I Guess There Is Just No Question, Baby

Voting is very important and in this case, totally fun. Filament Magazine has set up a survey to see what everyone liked best from their first four issues. You can vote on your favorite pictorials, articles and short stories. Two of my stories, One Night Only and Cold Turkey, appear in the magazine, and if they are among your favorites, let Filament know.

Hell, even if they aren't, if you like the magazine, go right here and let Filament know it. I'll keep you posted on the results. Happy voting!

One Last Thing That You Regretted, Before It Fell Apart

Sometimes I wonder why there isn't a referee for life. You know, when you get the "great" idea to remove a giant hedge from your garden, there should be someone in a striped shirt there to stop you before you get in over your head. Alas, life provides no such safety net, but the shrub was vanquished and despite the sore muscles, it was worth it. There is no better feeling than a job well done, and that little bugger had it coming anyway.

Well, the random selector had no trouble picking a winner for the Filament Magazine I had on offer. I thought it might be a little more popular, but I'm just happy it will be going to a good home. So, my Anonymous posting friend, please drop me a line at hlchampa [at] comcast [dot] net and I'll send you the magazine as soon as possible.

This week marks the beginning of the Australian Rules Football season, and I couldn't be happier. To that end, the Man Candy is from Down Under and his name is Andrew Mackie. Isn't he delicious??

It's Been Packed Away, And I Can't Get To It, No Way

I hope everyone has recovered from their St. Patrick's Day festivities. Mine were low key and consisted of spring cleaning my living room, a nice dinner and enjoying the warm, lovely weather.

I was also celebrating some good news, that my story, Breaking The Habit will be published in the upcoming all-male threesome anthology, Necking, from Dreamspinner Press. The release date will be in May and I'll keep you posted on the details.

Since I'm in the spring cleaning mood, I have a copy of Filament Magazine's sizzling hot fourth issue I'd like to find a good home for. All you have to do is drop me a comment and I'll let the random selector choose a winner.

So, let me know what's up, what's new, anything at all, really. You could be the lucky winner!!

Monday Morning's Paper Told Me The World Is Gonna End

Check it out, a lovely, lovely mention of my reading at the Erotic Literary Salon is featured in today's issue of The Philadelphia Daily News.

I Thought I'd Dye It Red But Got It Cut Instead

Actually, this weekend, I did both. The rain is finally letting up, and it's supposed to be a beautiful week. Spring fever is a real danger, but I'm looking forward to catching it.

While I was away, my contributor copies of Filament Magazine Issue 4, showed up on my doorstep. It is gorgeous, and I'm so excited to have my story, Cold Turkey, intertwined with such an amazing photo spread of two-guys-and-one-girl action. It's on page 64, for those of you who are interested in picking up the issue right here. Also, the wonderful Janine Ashbless did a review of the issue and you can read it right here.

The Man Candy continues undeterred and it is luscious today.

Tropical Drink Melting In Your Hand

Stop by the Author Island Tiki Hut tomorrow for a taste of my story, Spring Training, from The Cougar Book. The Logical Lust title, available now in print or e-book, has some pretty heavy hitters in it, and if you comment over at the Hut, you just might win yourself a free copy.

So, come on down. The cool, umbrella drinks are on the house!

In Between Dim Hours, In Between Dull Days

I was just trolling around the internet this morning, trying to get motivated to write something that isn't a Facebook status update. In my travels, I stumbled upon this review of I Kissed a Boy, on Well Read. It gives my story, What a Piece of Work is a Man, a nice mention, as well as stories by Elizabeth Coldwell and GS Wiley.

See, sometimes wasting time on the internet pays off. At least, that is the story I'm sticking with.

It's Never Ending, Never Ending, Same Old Story

It is amazing how one little thing can irritate me so completely. One tiny little word, phrase or gesture can just climb right under my skin and burrow so deep, I think I will never get it out. It's a reaction like touching match to paper, uncontrollable and immediate.

Sure, with time, I can get it to calm down, but the remnants are left to remind me. That is how this past week has been. My nerves have been frayed, my mind overloaded and I'm almost ready to throw in the towel. But, I won't do it. Not just yet, anyway.

Maybe what I need is a little Man Candy to soothe and restore my spirit. Lord knows nothing else seems to be working. I chose the tremendous, amazing and fabulous Paul Newman in honor of the Oscars last night. God, he was so fine, don't you agree?

Your Actions Will Speak Louder Than You

I have to say, I'm a little bit bummed right now. It seems the ladies of Erotica Cover Watch are calling it a day. While I respect their decision and applaud them for all they've done to further the cause of gender equality on erotica book covers, I will miss their insightful, thought-provoking comments and smoking hot guys. They are the reason I started Man Candy Mondays in the first place.

But, never fear, loyal blog readers, I plan to continue with the parade of scantily clad and hyper-sexy men for the foreseeable future. After all, while progress has been made, the fight is not yet won. And, let's face it, I freaking love doing it.

So, Kristina and Mathilde, thank you. Thank you for all that you did, said and brought to the forefront to get us all talking. Your blog will be missed.

Maybe I'm Holding On Too Tight

There's not much to say, seems there is too much swirling around in my head to allow for deep thoughts about anything. Man Candy seems to be about all I can handle right now. I shall return, when I get a handle on this. Whatever this is.

In case you missed it before, I've got new stories in College Boys and Filament Magazine. Check them out.
