Confrontation and Politics, Replaced with Harmonies and Shticks

Impressive, no? I thought so too. Definitely Man Candy worthy.

I don't have much to say today, as I am still basking in the glow of my novel being released yesterday. I was informed that sales were 'brisk'. That's a pretty good word. But, I'd like it more if it were downright flying off the e-shelves. If you want to help me out, feel free to follow this link and buy yourself a copy.

I really can't wait for the paperback, which should be out in a few weeks. Squeeeeee!

I'd Pay Well Over the Odds, Just to Have Some Teenage Abandon Back

What a wonderful weekend I had. Truly, one of the great ones. We discovered some kick ass hiking trails and a gorgeous lake a mere 15 minutes from our house, drove down to Annapolis so my man could see His Majesty's Armed Vessel Bounty (well, a reasonable facsimile, anyway), ate some awesome burritos named after 80's movie characters, and basically had an awesome time. But, like all good things, they must come to an end. It's the start of a new week. Back to work!

Before I dive head first into my next project, I have some more good news to report. First, it is less than one week until my novel, Losing and Gaining, drops. So EXCITED!!! The paperback will take a little longer to arrive, but I truly can't wait for this one. Hey, you can always buy both the e-book and the paperback version. I'd be fine with that.

Also, the superb Alison Tyler has seen fit to include me in another upcoming collection. This one is entitled Morning, Noon and Night and it has a super-sexy cover. Check it all out here, including the whole line up!

And, finally, I found out I am to be a part of the wonderful Smut By the Sea collection coming in September edited by Victoria Blisse and Lucy Felthouse. The whole line-up and more information can be found right here and you can also like it on Facebook!

Finally, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the Man Candy above. I mean, for God's sake. Look at him. Delicious!

'Cause When I Look Around, I Think This, This is Good Enough

Well, my new WIP is no longer and progress and I just hit send! Yay! Now, I'm able to pause for a second and look around. In doing that, I noticed a few great things going on. The inimitable Alison Tyler has announced the table of contents for her Big Book of Bondage coming in January 2013. Guess who made the list? Me!! Take a look at the whole group right here. Pretty fierce, right? And, that cover. Supa HOT!

Also, my novel release date is fast approaching. I'm so excited about this, I can hardly contain myself. Very soon, I'll have more information, including when the paperback will be available for purchase. There will be give-aways and other fun stuff, so stay tuned!!

Shape it Up, Get Straight

I'm very close to finishing my latest WIP. The result of my new-found discipline has seen this novella nearly complete in the same amount of time it used to take me to outline a story. I'm liking this new system very much. After The End is written, it's time to revise, revise, revise. Then edit, then hit send. Then, repeat the whole thing again. So it goes . . .

I had a great weekend. Did a bit of hiking in the rain through some very trecherous conditions, but we had a blast. The house is nearly ready for its close up. If we have any good karma left in the bank, it will sell quickly. I see myself on a beach with a drink in my hand by the time fall rolls around. It might be too much to ask for, but a girl can dream, right?

So Sing it Out With Me and Then Let it Go

Every now and then a song come around that just sums in all up. This is one of those tunes. Thank you Sara Bareilles. You are a delight.

Sweet as Whole

Sometimes I can be perfectly sweet
Got the sugary me all stuffed up in my sleeve
And I’ll talk of ponies and rainbows and things
And I’m just who you want me to be
Like most creatures down here on the ground
I’m composed of the elements moving around
But I grow and change and I shift and I switch
And it turns out I’m actually kind of a bitch
But that only happens when I get provoked
By some piece of shit asshole we all sadly know
And I sit and I write while reminding you all
That mean songs are still better than going postal

That guy’s an asshole
And that girl’s a bitch
Baby it’s natural
No getting away from it
So sing it out with me
And then let it go

Fuck that guy he’s just an asshole
And so I surprised you with some of my words
And I know that surprises, while fine, still can hurt
Whatever. I hate to think I have ruined the day
You’re the dick and the queen of the high horse parade
But I’m sick and tired of your poisonous ways
You’re a toxin wasting perfectly good space
And I say what I think
‘Cause it’s more economic than drugs or a drink

That guy’s an asshole
And that girl’s a bitch
Baby it’s natural
No getting away from it
So sing it out with me
And then let it go

Fuck that guy he’s just an asshole
And I won’t let him in
Under my skin
He’s a sad sack of shit
It’s pathetic
Just a festering sore
That will never be more than that
If I don’t let him

That guy’s an asshole
And that girl’s a bitch
Baby it’s natural
No getting away from it
So sing it out with me
And then let it go
Fuck that guy he’s just an asshole

Sitting in My Room, Something to Do Soon

A while ago, I decided I needed more discipline in my life. Not the fun, tie-me-up-and-spank-me kind, but the serious, I-need-to-get-me-act-together kind. Since I started writing full time, I've relished the fact that I can work in my pajamas or sit on my couch to write smut and no one can say anything to me. But, as things have progressed, I found my productivity slipping and my ass staying glued to the couch for hours at a time, being distracted by Maury reruns. (You ARE the father!) Life in general also got distracting, as we've been trying to get our house prepared to sell. Painting, organizing, plus purging 10 years of crap from the closets and cleaning like we've never cleaned before have taken up a lot of my time. As the days slipped by with no words written, I knew something had to be done.

Hence, a room of my own. The room pictured above, affectionately known as the Green Room (the color it used to be before the beige-ification of our house in preparation for sale) was always just a spare room. A place to keep my books and records and for guests to crash. But, I decided it needed to be more. Like a real office. Which is what is has become (well it's a real office to me). Between the hours of 12pm & 5pm every week day without exception, with some weekend hours thrown in when the mood strikes, I'm writing in that room. Now, if I want a snack or a drink, I'm forced to descend and then climb the stairs, my sneaky way of getting my butt up every hour. My only distraction now is my own procrastination, which I fear will take longer to conquer. But, I had to start somewhere.

Then, I took things a step further. I am now getting my ass out of bed at 8:30am instead of my usual 10am, so I can work out before I write my smut. I've also set myself daily goals, in order to keep myself on track and I've limited my access to the interwebs, which is a HUGE time suck. I've got it all plotted out in writing, right down to the gold star stickers I give myself when I accomplish it all (no joke on the stickers. It works just as well as it did when I was a kid!)

My first week of this experiment has tripled my productivity and helped me lose three pounds. So, I'd call it a success. Discipline is no longer a dirty word in my life, although I still don't put on real clothes to work. Hey, you've got to have some compromise in life.

Where Your Words Devour My Heart and Put Me to Shame

It has been a massively productive time in my life. Not only are the words flying better than they have in a while, our house selling preparations are going quite well. We spent the whole weekend painting, throwing things away and also having massive amounts of fun. We'll get out of here yet. The horizon is calling. . .

In writerly related news, I have several good things to report. Xcite Books saw fit to include my story, Play It Again, in their e-book collection, Pleasure Me which comes out in July. If you can't wait until then, a 5 story collection containing the same story is available on June 7th, called The Heat in Greece. Feel free to check them both out! Also, a classic story of mine, Behind Those Eyes, is the featured story on The Erotic Woman at the minute. If you haven't read it yet, do so right now!

Also, the countdown in on to the release of my first novel, Losing and Gaining!! Only twenty days to go!!! More information coming very soon!

I think we all deserve this Man Candy this week. Don't you?
